The Hongkong Prize for Research on History is awarded to postgraduate students who have shown outstanding achievement in researching the history of Hong Kong. Its aim is to encourage undergraduate and postgraduate students to carry out in-depth research into the history of Hong Kong, its relationships with China and Asia and explore new theories and concepts in studying Hong Kong history, politics, society and culture, thereby helping to foster dialogue and exchange among scholars, students and members of the public at large and enhancing Hong Kong’s international cooperation role and image on the global stage.

BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE is conducted by Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation and sponsored by Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited. This non-governmental merit-based award is governed by a charter to promote scientific and standardized management of the BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY inNOVATION PRIZE, with a view to ensuring that the evaluation process is performed objectively and independently. The operation of the BOCHK SCIENCE AND INNOVATION PRIZE is in line with the Basic Law of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region and is guided by high social morality and professional ethics.
During the ceremony, Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu lauded the Shaw Prize laureates for expanding the horizons of scientific possibilities for humanity and expressed the HKSAR government’s determination to develop Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology hub. “Hong Kong needs a scientific environment that values scientific spirit, encourages exploration and innovation, and is inclusive and understanding,” he said.
The HKFA is an annual film awards hosted by the Hong Kong Film Directors’ Association Ltd and founded in 1993. It is the only local film award voted on by members of Hong Kong’s professional film industry and its critics. Voting for eligible films takes place from January through March each year, with the winners announced at an awards ceremony in May.
The BOCHK Science and Technology Innovation Prize has helped boost the city’s science and technology atmosphere, allowing Hong Kong to be better placed in attracting global top scientific talent and nurturing forward-looking scientists, and it has also allowed Hong Kong’s scientific achievements to gain greater recognition in the Mainland and beyond.
